A Friday with The Pivot as the guys get together to talk about some heavy things going on in and around their lives and reflect on how life can never be taken for granted.

Returning from London, Fred joins Ryan and Channing to catch up about his trip and travel as the guys get ready to head to Arizona tomorrow to watch Ryan’s son Jordan play against Deion’s Colorado State. Ryan shares how he’s been consumed with his son’s last year playing college ball and staying healthy has been at the forefront of his everyday as Jordan had to deal with some unexpected health struggles to start the season.

Yet, with the attention there of worries, Ryan opens up with some guilt of sweating little things in life as he emotionally shares how their close family friend, LSU senior Greg Brooks, was recently diagnosed with a rare brain cancer after a tumor was removed and now fighting for his life. In a somber moment, Fred and Channing listen as Ryan tells about his recent visit to see Greg and just how tough it really is and the road ahead even tougher as the community is coming together to support his medical efforts as well as form a support system for the family to lean on during this time. Putting into perspective how life sometimes has no answers for the things that we encounter but can only prepare us to make most of each day. Ryan, Channing and Fred discuss to create a fund to help Greg’s family be able to be with him during this time of treatment and rehab.

Switching topics, guys get into the personal effects and the business side of sports and how trades affect athletes and their families with Lauren Holiday recently speaking out about her husband being traded while he was sleeping without notice to a city they gave so much to. Fred also brings up mental health side of sports and guys talk about Chandler Jones and how people are always so quick to blame CTE as if it’s a joke or a cover when it’s really a serious matter.

Heading into the wknd and wrapping up the episode on a lighter note, Ryan brings up a recent trend he was reading about how men are sending Venmo and cash app requests to first dates if there isn’t a second one or it doesn’t go well as in they want them to pay for half of the date! The guys have a good time discussing this one, let us know what you think Pivot Family!
