Initially incarcerated in Alabama, Wilson found herself increasingly isolated from her family as she was subsequently transferred to facilities in West Virginia, California, and eventually Seattle, Washington. She recounted frequent altercations and a lack of stability caused by constant relocations, which severed the sisterhood bonds formed with fellow inmates. Wilson described the physically confrontational environment where fistfights and attacks with locks were common, painting a picture of a beleaguered prison existence. Moreover, she disclosed disturbing accounts of abuse by male staff at Dublin, California’s now-shuttered facility, stressing a systemic issue of negligence.
