Black Panther is one of the most beloved characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s no wonder why. His first solo entry is excellent, filled with tons of memorable, crowd-pleasing moments. But while fans may marvel (no pun intended) at the final product, we’re willing to bet you might have missed some of the intriguing moments behind the scenes.
For instance, while the Black Panther suit may look fancy on screen, it’s a slightly less striking presence in real life. Fight scenes that seem to be taking place in real time or even in one shot have actually been constructed together bit by bit by editors in post-production. Michael B. Jordan sat in a make up chair for hours while each of Killmonger’s scars was meticulously placed on his body. You also may not have known that the mid-credits sequence was originally intended to be the film’s ending. According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, these comparisons are on-point because he always felt like Black Panther should be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s James Bond. And while Nakia might be T’Challa’s love interest in the film, her character in the comic book skews much darker.
