Stunning Verdict for Amish Mom Who Drowned Son to ‘Give Him to God’
An Ohio judge delivered a shocking verdict in the case of Amish mother Ruth Miller, who admitted to drowning her 4-year-old son at Atwood Lake and driving a golf cart carrying her other children into the water during what authorities described as a religious episode. In a brief bench trial lasting under an hour, the judge found that Miller committed the acts but ruled she was not guilty by reason of insanity, citing mental health evaluations that concluded she suffered from a severe mental disease and did not understand that her actions were wrong.
