Todd Bridges detailed his darkest moments and long fight with drug addiction. The “Diff’rent Strokes” actor revealed that he even considered suicide by cop during a heavy episode in his life. This low point led him to consider getting clean after a court-appointed ultimatum—jail or rehab. He chose rehab but not before one last drug binge. Bridges explained how he’s managed to remain sober for 30 years stating, “I don’t need it anymore,” and has focused on better understanding his feelings and his identity. Playing the tape in his head of possible consequences has helped him resist using. He also credits his lasting sobriety to supportive relationships, his dedication to maintaining his mental health, and his faith in God. Despite hardships, including losing close friends to suicide or overdose, Bridges remains firm in his commitment to sobriety.
