In the first clip of his VladTV interview, John “Boxer” Mendoza shared his turbulent childhood story. Born and raised in San Francisco’s Mission District, Mendoza’s upbringing was marked by his parents’ early separation. His father left while he was young, and he ended up meeting him only around the age of twelve. Mendoza’s mother, struggling with heroin addiction, placed him and his two brothers in foster care when he was just two years old. Foster care was filled with horrifying experiences, including witnessing a violent encounter between foster parents where the father stabbed the mother. At the age of ten, Mendoza’s mother regained custody under the pretense of newfound stability, though she was still using heroin.
