Shirley Ju starts off this clip by running down the long list of Stonebwoy’s accomplishments before the Ghanaian Afropop singer kindly reminds her that he also won a Nickelodeon ‘Kid’s Choice’ Award. From there, he talks about growing up on the streets of a city called Ashaiman before sharing some details about his path toward a career in music. Lastly, he talks about the car accident that nearly took his life and how it helped him settle on his stage name.
Later in the clip, Stonebwoy detailed how he came up with his stage name. He talked about being known as “Stone” since he was a young child and had the “Bwoy” added by a radio host who introduced him during a school competition. Stonebwoy also discussed being from the streets and how his music is a byproduct of that connection.
