“When I started work on this project I had one thing in mind: Love. I dedicated this whole body of work to the person I have been in relationship with 3 years now, I have experienced so many wonderful highs and horrific lows in this relationship. On my first record, THE LEO OF R&B, I expressed myself as a boy who went from a group setting to being a solo artist and standing alone. With new hits and old ones from the group days, that record opened a new door for me and wil always be near and dear to my heart. With this new record however I have went in a new direction. THE LION’S DEN is quite a reflection of what I have gone through. The opening track, “FEEL MY SOUL,” speaks on the ability to be who I am and free myself from any barriers I felt before. Many of the songs I wrote actually came from me viewing things from my lover’s perspective thus songs such as “I NEVER CHEATED” and “AS IF WE NEVER WERE” were born. I stayed true to love though with “SINGING SUPERMAN” which is m personal favorite on the recod. It’s a song about the iconic superhero and turning him into a vocal pillar of love, I even got a little sexual with “CAN I BE?” and as always, I ended with another Monica original. To me this whole project took me to a new level of manhood and I feel like it will be such a growing experience to those who are in love or fighting for love, Take a listen and pay attention to the words and just enjoy the R&B music baby!”
