M.I.A. Shares Vibrant Video for New Single “P.O.W.A.”
Last year, M.I.A. released her fifth studio album A.I.M., which she claims will be her last. However it seems she still has a lot left in her that needs to be expressed because she’s returned with a new single titled “P.O.W.A.” and a video to match.
As expected, M.I.A. delivers stunning, self-directed visuals to pair with her new single. The video opens up showing M.I.A. riding in the back of a truck bed filled with vibrantly colored flowers. Soon the scenery transitions to mountainous landscapes where M.I.A. experiences a view from above. The visuals are completed with some sharp synchronized choreography from a long line of dancers.
Ahead of the video’s release, M.I.A. took to her personal Twitter account to share the lyrics. Within the track she calls out a few big names: “I’m not Rihanna / I’m not Madonna / I’m not Mariah / Or Ariana / I been around in this world causing drama / The real spice girl, hot girl power.” But earlier today she took to Twitter again to clarify that these shout outs aren’t meant to be a diss, instead (taking a poke at Trump administration) she claims these are simply “alternative facts” and that “difference is good.”
@Rihanna @Madonna @MariahCarey @ArianaGrande This is not a dis , its just not an “alternative fact” . Difference is good ?❤️??? #MIAPOWA
