Norwegian Singer Charlotte Dos Santos Drops New Video For “Red Clay”
Norway is absolutely killing it. This time it’s 26-year-old singer Charlotte Dos Santos with a video for her single “Red Clay” off of her upcoming EP Cleo.
In addition to the video, Charlotte released this statement, “The complete metamorphosis from larva to a butterfly is one of the most spectacular transformations in the natural world. They completely remodel their bodies within the pupa – the caterpillar digests herself and creates her adult parts and when she is ready, she frees herself from the safety and warmth of the pupa inside the silky cocoon. By using the body as a canvas we are with this video reclaiming female bodies from a sexual gaze and looking at the transformation into womanhood and the emergence of a new awakening through a repeated cycle.”
Charlotte uses smooth vocals to describe shady individuals who use you for what they can and then leave your life entirely. The video matches the intimate production and it’s hard to turn away from Charlotte as she lures you in with her soulful, yet vulnerable vocals.
The director Marina Oriente told us, “The footage used in the video emphasizes this transformative process. The deconstruction of the film itself, revealing the hidden alchemy behind it’s fragile physicality. It’s deconstruction gives life to another yet more organic form of matter.”
