Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story” Is Being Turned Into a Dope Children’s Book

I don’t care who you are, if you’re talking the greatest storytellers in the hip-hop game, Slick Rick’s name needs to be at the very TOP of your list. There’s a reason why Outkast made sure to get a Slick Rick feature on “Da Art of Storytellin’.” Slick Rick the Ruler weaved some of the most intricate tales around, and one of his greatest is his 1988 classic “Children’s Story,” which got turned into one of the illest story-driven videos EVER.

For Record Store Day 2017, fans of Slick Rick’s “Children’s Story,” especially those who are now parents, can share the magic of quality hip-hop with your kids via The Great Adventures of Slick Rick… Children’s Book. Yes, that’s right, “Children’s Story” is being turned into an actual children’s book.

Word is Def Jam linked up with Get On Down to create the book, which has all kinds of dope illustrations that are straight out of the video, along with a 45 of “Children’s Story” and “The Moment I Feared,” another one of Rick’s classic story-driven tracks. It will even include Slick Rick’s full The Great Adventures of Slick Rick on CD.

Record Store Day returns on Saturday, April 22, 2017. These bigger-ticket items are usually in limited quantities at your local independent record store, so if you’re trying to get an amazing children’s story book from a hip-hop great, make sure you’re in line dumb early.
