Kool G Rap is set to release his first solo album in six years. After unveiling the cover artwork for Return of the Don last month, the legendary MC puts out the official tracklist for his much anticipated return along with the LP’s lead single titled “Wise Guys.”

The Freeway and Lil’ Fame-assisted “Wise Guys” gives fans a taste of what to expect, and the results are quite good. Kool G Rap sounds right at home on the beat by MoSS, who produced the entire LP. Statik Selektah’s cuts add a classic hip-hop flavor to the mix, which allows Kool G Rap to shine brightly.

Return of the Don features 11 tracks with guest appearances by Raekwon, Cormega, Willie The Kid, Conway The Machine, Westside Gunn and the late Sean Price, among others. The Juice Crew member wants to show that he’s still in top form on Return of the Don and is paying homage to all of the artists who have inspired him.

“What motivates me to get in the studio is really being in that creative zone that you cannot just enter on demand” Kool G Rap said in a statement. “It is more like an extremely powerful vibe that overcomes you. It’s triggered by hearing a particular track, or being inspired by another artist; or, a life experience that makes your mind and heart open up and lyrics just pour from your soul in the capacity of an avalanche. That’s what the Return of the Don represents; an amalgamation of past, present and future and a tribute to some of my most favorite spitters worldwide; this is my salute to those artists.”
