Lamar Odom Shares Candid Outlook On Life After Recovery

Ahead of a reported reality television show on his road to recovery, Lamar Odom is publicly sharing the moments before and after his drug-induced coma. In an interview with CBS’ program, The Doctors, the former Los Angeles Laker revealed his battle with depression and the need to suppress his feelings with hard drugs played a role in his medical emergency.

“Me and my wife at the time [Khloe Kardashian] were going through some things. I was in a dark place,” he said. “I guess they say everything happens for a reason, so I guess the reason is I’m here, that I can tell the story.” Odom also stated that Khloe was the first to notify him of his medical condition.

“I couldn’t even speak at the time. I couldn’t talk,” he said. “Nothing would come out when I would open my mouth. I was scared.” Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Odom checked himself back into rehab to focus on the next stage of his life after recovery. According to People, a source shared that it was partly Odom’s decision to seek professional assistance. “He wants to stay clear and focused…He’s trying to take care of himself. He really wants to be better…His friends and family encouraged him to go in and he agreed and made the decision.
