In 2006, Gucci Mane spoke about his Alabama upbringing, experience in school, and how he began started making music. Gucci also gives aspiring artists advice and relates how he did well in English class because he knew he wanted one day to be a poet. “I’m a rapper, I deal with a lot of words, I went to English class and I made As because I knew I wanted to be a poet,” Gucci says.
