The one year anniversary of Bankroll Fresh’s death is nearing closer, and this week, Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News has obtained surveillance footage from police, taken just moments before the rapper was gunned down. The footage, seen below, appears to show Bankroll Fresh with an assault rifle, police stating they have reason to believe he fired the first shot, though a motive is not yet clear. Authorities said they haven’t released the entire video because it’s too graphic.

Bankroll Fresh was killed on March 4, 2016 outside Atlanta’s Street Execs studio. Rapper No Plug later took credit for the shooting, saying he acted in self-defense. Atlanta homicide detective Major Adam Lee said investigators are looking into the validity of that claim. “We’re trying to decipher if that person who is claiming self-defense truly was defending themselves,” he told Channel 2.

In total, 50 shots were fired and though the case remains open, Atlanta authorities have passed the investigation on to the District Attorney’s office. “We are considering additional evidence we discovered in this case,” the DA’s office said in a statement. “Because of this information, we have not been able to make a decision by the original deadline. Once we reach a decision, we will notify the families and then the public.” The investigation is still ongoing.

Earlier this year, the rapper’s estate released the post-humous single “Truth Be Told,” with Bankroll as well appearing on tracks with Jeezy and T.I. in recent months.
