Jovan “Fresh Boy” Hardy was born into a musically inclined family in November of 1983. His grandmother, B.J. Fontaine, was a singer of blues and jazz. His grandfather, DA Bookman, singer and saxophone player currently plays around the Los Angeles and surrounding areas with T-Lou’s Zydeco Band. Mr. Bookman had a unique opportunity to travel the world and play with many famous entertainers. For example, Mr. Bookman’s resume includes Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Miki Howard, Edwin Starr “Starchild”, Marvin Gaye, and Johnny Gill.
Due to the unique experience Jovan had being exposed to different genres of music, it was easy for him to focus on sharing his love of music as a producer and artist. In middle and high school he began writing and perfecting his craft as an artist. Sitting in a high school classroom, he wrote his first rap song and performed for a few of his friends.
In 2002, Jovan built a recording studio inside of a tiny closet in a one bedroom apartment. It was in that little studio where Jovan realized he had developed other skills he could add to his roster of talent….recording and producing music. Being exposed to a variety of music such as rock, pop, blues, jazz, and hip hop, he created his own sound. His music was so unique and advanced, his grandfather and uncle’s labeled him the “Mad Scientist.”
As a teenager, Jovan “Fresh Boy” Hardy was introduced to Keith Andies, an award-winning producer, responsible for creating hit songs for Baby Face Edmunds and several other award-winning artists. Keith was so impressed with Jovan’s skill level at his age, Keith asked him to be his intern in his state-of-art studio giving Fresh Boy the opportunity to learn everything he could from a professional producer/engineer. The experience only furthered Jovan’s interest and made him work harder to reach his goal of becoming a producer, recording engineer, and artist.
Jovan quickly reached a great level of success recording and producing music. Starting in 2005 to 2007, he work with Fly City Entertainment, a company that gave him the opportunity to perfect his craft as a producer. He worked with several upcoming artist one of which being Nipsey Hustle.
In 2008 to present, Jovan has placed his music with several television shows which includes America's Next Top Model (Nationally/Internationally), Bar Rescue, Changing Lanes, Chef Roble and Company, Denise Richards: It's Complicated, and Real Vice: Miami. In 2012, he began recording and producing for other upcoming artist.
